Tomato Festival – A Celebration of Istria’s Favorite Fruit Returns to Umag on Thursday, July 17th, 2025
The Tomato Festival, a traditional event dedicated to one of Istria’s most beloved crops, returns to Umag on Thursday, July 17th, 2025. The event kicks off at 8:00 PM at Trg Slobode (Freedom Square), bringing together all generations with music, food, and a charitable spirit.
An Evening Filled with Music and Good Vibes
Alfa Time Band will set the mood with lively music, while a rich gastronomic offer featuring tomato-based dishes awaits visitors. Various fun activities are also planned, including the traditional contest for the largest tomato. Although the official program has yet to be fully confirmed, judging by previous editions, locals and visitors alike can expect a joyful and eventful evening.
A Festival with a Charitable Purpose
As in previous years, all proceeds will go to charitable causes. In the past, funds raised have supported the Umag Health Center and other local institutions. The organizers are continuing this tradition, inviting all attendees to contribute to the community simply by joining the celebration.
Podravka and Umag – A Lasting Partnership
Although tomato processing was relocated from Umag to Kalnik in 2024, Podravka remains strongly connected to the people of Umag and local tomato growers. Events like this one help preserve the memory of the former factory and decades-long tradition of tomato processing in Umag.
Free admission.
The festival is organized by Podravka, the City of Umag, and the Umag Tourist Board.
