The crystal-clear waters of Novigrad Bay will once again welcome the Alpen Adria Swim Cup – an open-water swimming event organised by an Austrian swimming club that stages races for amateur swimmers of all ages at stunning seaside and lakeside locations in Austria, Slovenia, and Croatia.
Novigrad is the only Croatian stop on the Cup’s calendar, selected back in 2019 for its exceptional conditions. The town’s sheltered bay offers calm seas and pleasant autumn temperatures in a charming Mediterranean setting – a perfect match for the competition. Add to that Novigrad’s inviting mix of gastronomy, quality accommodation, and warm hospitality, and you have an irresistible destination for both athletes and spectators.
Swimmers can choose from six courses of varying lengths. The start and finish line are set on Sirena Beach, beneath the Aminess Maestral Hotel. The longest course, 5,000 m, loops toward the mouth of the Mirna River and the Lanterna peninsula before returning to Sirena. The 2,500 m and 1,500 m courses also head toward the river, while the “everyone swims” 500 m course welcomes beginners and recreational swimmers. Kids can join in special 500 m and 250 m races. The event’s aim is simple – to bring together young and old, professionals and enthusiasts, for a memorable day in and by the sea.
