Mid-April has several sports events: a three-day sports and free-time fair Umag Sport (April 15th – April 17th), the 100 Miles of Istria (April 15th – April 17th) trail race and the Tour of Croatia (April 9th – April 24th) professional bike race which will pass through Northwest Istria on April 23rd.
Planet Earth Day will be marked with the Novigrad Eco Day (April 23rd) manifestation.
On the last weekend in April, there will be three events: the Umag Floria flower fair (April 29th – May 1st) in Umag, the one-day fine cuisine event Gnam-gnam Fest: Asparagus Day (April 30th) in Novigrad and the 7th International Oldtimer Exhibition (April 30th) for all fans of old automobiles.
All those who prefer two wheels can participate in the Umag Bike (May 8th) spring bicycle race. On the same day, Oprtalj opens its Antiques Fair (May 8th) that will take place every other Sunday until October. One of the largest motorcycle rallies in the region, the 15th Moto Meeting Ooooold Rockers (May 12th – May 15th) rally attracts a large number of non-biker visitors with its relaxed and lively atmosphere. If you get hungry during the rally, be sure to visit the Gnam-Gnam Fest: Sardine Pilchard Fest (May 13th) event that will show you just how tasty sardines can be.
If you are interested in tennis, take a trip to the ITF GMP CUP Umag (April 16th – April 25th) that last year played host to nine previous world champions.
At the start of June, Northwest Istria will celebrate one of the tastiest clams in the world at the An Evening of Jacob’s Scallops in Novigrad (June 4th) event. And saving the best for last, we’ll see the spring out with a two-day Magical NoviGrad (June 18th – June 19th) street performance festival which will offer a wide variety of events turning the entire town upside down.
