A romantic natural ambience; an altitude that provides a breathtaking view; an intimate celebration in one of the excellent Istrian restaurants, or a big reception by the sea… Trying to imagine the experience is not the issue; the only problem is how to decide on just one option!
The town with two bell towers and two churches is a natural choice for a wedding destination in the picturesque inland area of Northwest Istria. Near Buje you will also find the Momjan Castle, a true oasis in the warmer parts of the year, which can be used as an idyllic setting for a wedding ceremony, whether it is a civil or church wedding, considering there is a church nearby. But these are not the only attractive locations for future spouses who want to vow eternal love to each other on one of the local hills. Namely, the lookout on St. Mauro might be of interest to those who want to say their vows against a backdrop of a view of the coast of Northwest Istria and the estuary of the river Mirna. As someone who really enjoys observing the view from high altitudes, I have been there and I can tell you that the view from this location is truly spectacular.
A reception for a smaller number of guests can be held at one of the restaurants near Buje. In case it is a big reception, I would recommend the hotels in nearby towns that have larger capacities. And what about the wedding album? With the idyllic scenery in the area of Buje that I have just described, there is no shortage of hidden corners perfect for creating permanent mementos of your special day.
There really is something special about hill towns, and Brtonigla is no exception. Regardless of whether you want to get married at the Church of St Rocco or St Zeno, or, on the other hand, if you prefer to have the ceremony in the enchanting surroundings of the olive groves and vineyards around Brtonigla, such as those in Nova Vas, your wedding is guaranteed to be an unforgettable and unique experience.
I also asked around for the best place for a reception that will last until late into the night. One of the finest small Croatian hotels with a superior gastronomic offer, San Rocco, is a true haven of beauty and delight, something I had an opportunity to experience firsthand. If you are looking to organize a bigger wedding, the reception can move to the seaside in Umag or Novigrad, where there are a number of excellent halls and hotels that can easily accommodate a large number of guests.
