A Season Full of Events
Summer events in NW Istria offer something for everyone. Lovers of cultural and social events will enjoy The Golden Lion theater festival, which will be held in Umag at the end of June. The Novigrad festival of sound Parkfest will be on their list. The real treat arrives in August when Novigrad will be marked with Artery, the visual arts festival, followed by everybody’s favorite, the St. Pelagius Celebration.
Sports fans will come into their own in mid-July, when the Umag’s Plava Laguna Croatia Open Umag show is on, while the aficionados of life on two-wheels will love the summer cycling events of Radini and San Rocco.
Of course, there can be no summer without the gourmet and wine experiences, so make sure to include The Empire of Muscat Wine in Buje and the Umag Tomato Days in your planner. If you come to Novigrad late in the summer, do not miss the opportunity to enjoy the fish delicacies at the Sardine Pilchard Fest!
Beaches That Make a Difference
Due to the numerous choices, choosing the perfect beach for your summer holiday in NW Istria will make for such sweet torment! Kanegra in Savudrija, Zambratija, Katoro and Laguna in the Umag area along with Karigador and Karpinjan near Novigrad are just some of the beautiful beaches and coves that enchant with their beauty, cleanliness and sea purity.
The Magic of the Interior
The sea is great, but so are the hills, forests and valleys whoi have their own charms. If you are from the “interior” like me, you certainly understand what I mean. Spice up your summer by tasting some Malvazija and Teran in the Buje and Brtonigla wineries (I warmly recommend it!).
