As always, the organizers have made sure that there is no lack of food and drinks. In addition to the Zigante Restaurant, which has been participating in the Istria Gourmet Festival for a number of years, three other restaurants, all of whom are proud bearers of the Michelin recommendation, will be joining the festival. Who can resist the Istrian eno and gastro delicacies which will be there for visitors to enjoy at almost 30 locations, one of which will be – a Michelin location?! The emphasis is, of course, on fresh local ingredients.
The Badi Restaurant will prepare a cuttlefish stew, black burgers with sardines and many other surprises, while San Rocco will be offering cappuccinos made with cuttlefish and truffles as well as pork belly in a pistachio crust. If that does not make your mouth water, I do not know what will! A real treat will also be served by the Pergola Restaurant – a Kvarner shrimp, olive and orange sandwich, in addition to sous-vided octopus and grilled scallops, which are my eternal favorite.
If you are a fan of meat menus, you will be able to enjoy yourself at RougeMarin, whose Burger Revolution made Zagreb crazy for burgers. I can tell you from experience that theirs are really worth tasting. But, as you are already in Istria, do not hesitate to try the authentic local cuisine at Our Kužina Restaurant, led by chef Zdravko Tomšić this year. You will be delighted with top dishes of fresh fish, gourmet boškarin and versatile Istrian cheese.
We all know that the best addition to all these culinary delicacies is Istrian wine. Istria boasts 16 wines that carry the Michelin recommendation, and as many as 10 of them can be enjoyed within the “Hidden Charms of Istrian Wines” program led by our famous sommelier, Emil Perdec. Wine aficionados will have the opportunity to reward their palate with a sparkling wine, a young malvasia and a reserved malvasia, with a teran, and with a red coupage and a cabernet sauvignon. The entire wine story will be rounded off by one of the presented wines being chosen as the UMAG ATP Wine of 2018 via a secret vote. Cheers!
