Adriatic Squid Day
Out of all seafood, the squid is definitely my favorite. Still, I can’t decide which way is my favorite when it comes to preparing those first wintertime Adriatic squids. Maybe I don’t even have to decide since Istrian chefs already have, through the Dani jadranskih lignji festival, taking place in northwest Istrian restaurants between December 1st and January 7th. These restaurants will offer several squid dish courses at very attractive prices. And that’s not all, I’m certain these dishes will be made in completely new, unexpected ways and that I’ll be once more spellbound by what I’ll taste.
A Hike along Parenzana
A good meal needs to be digested well, so why not take part in an organized hike along Parenzana, the former narrow gauge railroad track? The hike starts from Buje on December 17th. During last several years, parts of this track have been converted into hiking and cycling paths, unique in that they’re full of viaducts, tunnels and stations from the days when the railroad track was still active.
Wine Roads of Northwestern Istria
Nothing warms you up on a cold day like a drop of something exquisite! It’s reason enough to take a tour of the wine roads of Northwestern Istria and visit some of the region’s famous winemakers. Besides, a bottle of great wine is an ideal gift for the holidays ahead of us!
