Hilly forests whose colours go from yellow and green to red, the Mirna river surrounded by beautiful scenery, sun rays shining through dense vegetation on an undisturbed Istrian morning are just some of the images that will remain in your memory of an autumn in Northwestern Istria. In addition to these beautiful scenes, there are other reasons why you should visit this destination at this time of year.
Crowd-free Exploration of the Destination
Autumn in Northwestern Istria does not feature as many crowds as the summer season does. This allows you to take photographs undisturbed and to tour some of the most beautiful hilly towns like Motovun, Grožnjan and Buje. You can take some chestnuts from Motovun as a keepsake and enjoy the best wines and truffles in peace. Additionally, you can take a walk in Novigrad and Umag without any hustle and bustle, and there will almost always be an extra free spot in restaurants and cafes even if you did not make reservations.
The autumn period also brings slightly lower temperatures, so walking and climbing in the hilly areas is easier, especially if, like me, you are constantly looking for a place to capture the perfect landscape photograph. The mornings are fresh, and the days pleasantly warm – just perfect for swimming! So take a light jacket, but do not forget the swim suit. If it is colder, in one of the hotel pools the water is sure to be at a comfortable 27-30 degrees.
Numerous Interesting Events
During autumn, there are many interesting events such as Istria Relax Days, which offer the ultimate wellness pleasure at promotional prices. Until November 18th, Sole Fish Days are featured at destination restaurants, and from November 9th to 11th, Martinje is celebrated, which is an excellent opportunity to taste the best wines!
