I consider myself an “autumn child” because I wasn’t just born during this season but I also adore everything about it. The air temperature, the colorful trees, even the rain, and my favorite thing is spending the start of autumn somewhere near the sea. This year it’s Northwestern Istria, full of events I don’t want to miss.
An active world of sports
As a true sports fan, wherever I go, sports events have a priority. I even plan to participate in this year’s Novigrad Cittanova Run, I just have to see if I’ll do the 3.5 or the 10 kilometer one, and there’s also the half-marathon for all who want just a bit of recreation. Since the Istria Granfondo cycling marathon will also take place around the same time, I’ll join that sports spectacle as a spectator! The Colours of Tennis charity tournament is another opportunity for sports fans to gather alongside famous business and showbusiness people. Athletes both professional and casual, I’ll see you in Umag and Novigrad!
A smorgasbord of gourmet events
If you’re in Northwestern Istria during autumn, don’t forget to visit the various restaurants and taverns that will offer sole fish dishes and quality wines and olive oil during the Sole fish days festival. I’m especially looking forward to Mushroom days at Brtonigla, a manifestation dedicated to my favorite autumn delicacy. For all gourmands who enjoy Istrian dishes there’s the Gnam-gnam fest: Istria on a plate gourmet festival in Novigrad, offering many specialties from both Istrian coast and hinterlands. The Feast Day of St. Martin in Buje will be another treat for the palate, offering a selection of superb local wines!
Fun and relaxation
I love visiting museums and exhibitions, and Foto Ex Tempore in Novigrad will certainly sate my hunger for art. The vacation should also include some relaxation, and what better way to do it than at Istria Relax Days, with its rich and enticing offer of massages and wellness programs.
