Every time you travel with a baby it means additional checklists, lots of forethought and additional entertainment equipment. This is no different in Northwestern Istria. I will share my experience with an 18 months old baby, which I am sure you can use for both younger babies and older children.
Baby Tour Equipment
To visit Northwestern Istria, and not to go to Motovun, Grožnjan or Buje, would be a real shame. The hilly landscape and macadam rich terrain will make it a real challenge for your baby, if it has started walking. In order not to spend too many hours climbing slowly alongside your baby, a stroller might come in handy. If you do decide on a stroller, do bear in mind that the it must feature strong, thick wheels which are able to handle the rougher terrain.
A front carrier or a sling comes to mind as one of the best solutions for this situation, provided, of course, your baby is not too heavy to be carried and also likes to be carried. This way, you can enjoy all the beautiful panoramas and fresh hilly air unhindered.
Baby Friendly Promenades and Parks
The coastal towns of Umag and Novigrad have plenty of parks and playgrounds for children which are in excellent condition. There are so many, there are no queues. If you’ve been walking along the Umag coast, be prepared to sit for an hour or two, because your little ones will not be able to resist all the slides, swings, seesaws, climbs and slopes and other seemingly common things which invite kids to play and tickle their imagination. Most hotels in these towns also have their own private parks so you will not have to come up with any extra animation.
