The decision has been made and the choice is Northwestern Istria, because of all the various interesting events taking place there in summer. I like festivals, cultural and sporting events, and since Umag, Novigrad, Brtonigla and Buje abound in them during the season, I’ve highlighted the ones I am looking forward to!
Brtonigla Under the Stars (June 21st – August 9th)
Conversations with favorite friends beneath the crystal clear sky filled with stars are best when had during summer evenings. This is exactly what the Brtonigla Under the Stars event offers. It is a series of romantic and fun evenings, during which the Brtonigla town center will provide much enjoyment accompanied by a gourmet offer of irresistible tastes of local wines and relaxing music tones.
Parkfest (June 30th)
The beginning of July in Novigrad is reserved for Parkfest, a festival of sound that takes place in the public areas of the city. Plays, workshops, performances and concerts have been attracting numerous lovers of artistic and social events for the last 10 years, and me among them. I can hardly wait for the highlight of this event – a big concert in the pine forest by the sea!
Street Wizards’ Night (July 13th)
During the summer season, Novigrad turns into a place from imagination – jugglers, stilts walkers, clowns and other circus artists rule the city center. Street art performers with their combination of music, dancing and juggling regularly include the audience into their acts, so I do not doubt that the streets will be ringing with fun and laughter.
Plava laguna Croatia Open Umag (July 13th – July 22nd)
The eldest and the most prestigious tennis tournament in Croatia is high on the list of events I never miss! Apart from top notch tennis, the Plava laguna Croatia Open Umag delivers a rich program filled with tourist, gastronomic and entertainment events.
In the Kingdom of Muscat Wine (July 20th)
How to better finalize your vacation than with a sip or two of Istrian wine in a beautiful location near the old Medieval Momjan Castle? Tasting the sweet Momjan Muscat ripened on the lovely local hills will be accompanied by an interesting cultural program related to the history of Momjan, both the town and its castle.
