This museum is located in Novigrad, and in addition to its exhibits, which make up one of the most important collections of stone monuments in Croatia, its building will one day testify to the architecture of today. Namely, the very building housing of the museum is of modern design and a very interesting work of modern architecture. The most interesting exhibit is the ciborium of Bishop Mauritius from the 8th century, and the museum, in addition to its stone remains, also features an interesting cultural program for various age groups.
Buje Ethnological Museum
I think this museum is for those who are most interested in what the life of a typical Istrian villager looked like in the past and they would like to learn something about their daily life. The museum contains 186 exhibits depicting different segments of the everyday life of Istrians, down to the reconstructions of an old loom and an old bedroom. It is also possible to see an old olive press, one of the main cultures of this region. The museum is located in the heart of the Old Town, above the back row of 17th-century defensive walls.
Gallerion Austro-Hungarian Navy Museum
Novigrad has another interesting heritage collection: that of the Austro-Hungarian Navy. Looking at the many exhibited photographs, blueprints and maps, I was thoroughly transported to times of yore, vividly imagining what life was like on these shores when the Imperial and Royal Navy cruised its waters. Today, the museum represents an ode to sailors and sailing, and depicts the lives of sailors along the Adriatic coast in the period preceding the First World War.
Museum of Umag
This museum is also located in a very attractive setting: it is housed in a 14th-century Medieval defense tower at the end of the peninsula, where the old part of the city is located. The museum contains numerous exhibits that testify to the rich and long history of this city. The archaeological, ethnological, art and pedagogical departments develop year-round projects and exhibitions. Due to the renovation of the tower, the museum does not currently have a permanent exhibition, only occasional theme exhibitions featuring the history of the city which offer interesting content you do not want to miss.
