Brtonigla is a town well known for its charming alleys, colorful houses, magnificent nature, but also for its vineyards which produce some of the finest local wines. Do I have your attention now? Excellent, now you can read on and find out why your visit to Brtonigla in August will be especially delightful.
Brtonigla and its surroundings offer not one, but two great summers festivals! The nearby Nova Vas on 10th and 11th of August hosts the traditional Feast of Saint Lawrence. Along with music, dancing and delicious food and drink, the event also offers an attractive walking tour of the hills above the Mirna river. Several days later in Brtonigla there is a traditional Saint Roch’s Feast, which is always an extra treat for lovers of traditional cuisine which will be presented at street stalls and as part of a fair. Of course, good music and various additional activities will abound here as well, and you’ll also have the opportunity to buy some authentic Istrian souvenirs, trinkets to remember your visit by in the years to come.
However, that’s not the end to local events. Until August 29th, each Thursday there is the Brtonigla Under the Stars, a series of relaxed evening events in the center of town. Gather your friends, raise a cup of local wine and enjoy the musical program under the August night sky!
It doesn’t matter if you are into walking, running or cycling, in Brtonigla you will certainly find your activity for some summer recreation (I definitely recommend a relaxed morning walk by the vineyards). Passionate cyclists, attention please! Mid-August, during the Saint Roch’s Feast, Brtonigla will be the starting place for the San Rocco Bike cycling race, taking you along a 25 kilometer-long path. Are your bikes ready yet?
