On Saturday, October 1s there will be a marathon for all participants who are in good physical shape and are ready to face a challenge. On that day, all the race participants can choose whether to cycle the 88 kilometer-long Istria Granfondo Short Route (inclination: 720 meters) or the 128 kilometer long Istria Granfondo Classic Route (inclination: 1330 meters). Both routes start and finish at the Stella Maris tourism complex, right next to Umag’s ATP Stadium.
Sunday is reserved for recreational cyclists and families, who can participate in the Istria Granfondo Family Camp; Gourmet Tour whose 25 kilometer-long route leads through Novigrad and its beautiful surroundings and offers a view of the sea, olive gardens and vineyards. Refreshment stations along the route offer participants a chance to take a breath and taste Istrian cuisine.
Apart from a fun ride through the beautiful scenery, the marathon also offers additional programming such as the Expo Zone in which various popular bicycle brands will be presented, the children’s entertainment program, a bicycle balancing competition and various other interesting events. Still, the main draw of this cycling marathon, in which 800 cyclists from about ten countries participated last year, is its great atmosphere.
