Whatever kind of wedding you might be planning, Novigrad and Dajla offer an extensive range of ideas and options for an unforgettable start of a life together.
You will find the St. Pelagius and St. Maximilian Church surrounded by greenery at the center of the old town core in Novigrad. A church wedding in this ambiance sounds like every girl’s dream come true! Imagine all this and a ceremony accompanied by the sound of a centuries-old church organ. Seems pretty good, right?
Those with an artistic sensibility will be drawn to the Lapidarium Museum, located right next to the St. Pelagius and St. Maximilian Church, the perfect place for an indoor wedding. If you prefer open spaces, however, the ceremony can also be held in a plaza within the museum compound. There, the happy couple can exchange their vows surrounded by greenery and birdsong. The option to have the catering set up in the plaza as well is just icing on the cake.
But that is not all that Novigrad has to offer to newlyweds, not by a long shot! Laguna Novigrad Hotels offers several locations for a wedding reception. And while we are on the subject of hotels, I simply cannot overlook Hotel Nautica, which provides the opportunity to hold the ceremony in one of the finest Croatian marinas, and with a backdrop of one of the most spectacular sunsets on the Adriatic. There is no shortage of superlatives that can be used to describe the Nautica Marina and Hotel, it is simply a perfect location in every regard. The newlyweds can spend their first wedding night in a room reminiscent of the spacious and luxurious cabins of historical ships. What better start to a marriage journey than in the Novigrad marina?
Right next to Hotel Maestral, which features a wedding reception hall, you will find a beach called Sirena (which translates as Mermaid). This is another incredible spot for a wedding ceremony, with a beautiful sunset and the sound of the waves as the backdrop. I find the idea of a beach wedding particularly appealing. If I could choose, this would be one of my top options. Sirena Beach is ideal for late spring and early fall weddings. Next to the beach there is a small restaurant where the reception can continue after the ceremony.
All the locations are to be found by the sea and surrounded by age-old fortifications, which makes Novigrad a perfect choice for a fairytale wedding. Can you imagine your wedding album with a setting like this?
There are smaller and more private locations to be found not far from Novigrad, such as the Church of St. John the Baptist in Dajla. Located right by the sea, with its timeless beauty and fascinating history, it draws the attention of both experts and casual observers. Since the first time I passed by it looking for a beach and some refreshment, the mystical nature of the place haunted me and drew me to study the interesting architectural design consisting of a country estate (monastery) and a church. The terrace surrounded by the greenery, the sea and historical edifices truly left me breathless!
As I was to find out later, weddings are a common occurrence in this location. Newlyweds particularly appreciate the fact that the catering can be organized in the garden to make the beginning of a life together all the more memorable. Considering that the compound has a unique charm incomparable to anything in Northwest Istria, Dajla is guaranteed to provide a fantastic setting for the wedding photo album.
