Although Istria is a mandatory stop during summer vacation, visit it at this time of year if an excellent choice, especially when it come to its northwestern region. In autumn, it presents a rich offer of excellent culinary events celebrating the season and the local specialties, something very much worth experiencing.
This year, from the middle October all the way to the end of November all those planning to visit Northwestern Istria will enjoy the Sole Fish Days manifestation, in which twenty or so restaurants in Umag, Novigrad, Brtonigla and Buje offer delightful flounder dishes, a fish typical of the sandy bottom in this part of the Adriatic.
The end of October will be especially attractive to mushroom lovers: Livade offers Truffles Days, an event dedicated to truffles that will take place on October 22nd and 23rd while on the 29th and the 30th of the same month, Mushroom Days are happening, an event celebrating mushrooms and offering not just culinary delights but also educational content with many workshops, exhibitions and organized mushroom pickings.
November is reserved for enjoying a nice glass of wine: St. Martin’s Day in Momjan and Buje is the place to be on November 11th and 13th. However, the entire second half of November will be dedicated to the famous Momjan Muscat wine and local truffles because the Momjan Muscat is a wine unique to this region and this fall just might be the time for you to give it a try! So come to Buje and Momjan to the Days of Momjan Muscat and Truffles festival from November 13th to November 30th.
