This year’s edition of the Istrian Marathon gathered almost 700 participants from 16 countries, the most numerous among them Slovenian, Croatian, Italian, and Austrian cyclists. However, Granfondo’s appeal has been reaching out, into the wider world, so Northwestern Istria was visited last weekend by cyclists from Canada and Great Britain!
At Saturday’s marathon, the participants could choose between two routes: the 90 kilometers long Istria Granfondo Small and the 136 kilometers long Istria Granfondo Classic. The winner of the Classic was Gregor Sikošek, while the first place of the Small went to Matic Plaznik.
The Istria Granfondo program started on Friday with applications, followed by the start packages distribution, and was closed with the Family & Gourmet Tour on Sunday in Novigrad. Visitors could, over the weekend, enjoy a rich additional program for adults and for children.
Of course, both visitors and participants shared a series of interesting photos on social networks. Here’s a small selection of Instagram posts that will give you a great taste of the entire atmosphere!
