The festival fairy tale that begun playing in my head last year when I heard that the Exit team was starting a festival in Croatia on May 26th and 27th, with some of my long time favorite musicians as headliners, now finally becomes reality at the Stella Maris Resort’s lagoon, with over 50 000 visitors expected during the festival. If you’re still not sure if going to see world famous musicians is for you, here’s four reasons your response should be “I’m soooo going!”
4 days of great music
Seventy amazing performers will appear during the Sea Star Festival in Umag. Even though I want to, I’m not sure how I’ll manage to listen to them all, but I’ve already decided to spend my time on Friday in front of the stage where Dubioza Kolektiv, Urban & 4, and The Prodigy will be playing, all acts I’m really looking forward to. The highlight will definitely be the charismatic Fatboy Slim on Saturday, whose live shows, I’ve heard, are truly explosive. And there’s more – going by 2 + 2 logic, the main event days have had two more days added to them! The intro to this amazing musical spectacle starts with a big warm up party on Thursday and ends on Sunday.
Even though at first there had been fewer stages announced, Sea Star grew to seven – Addiko Tesla, Nautilus Arena powered by Radio 101, Exotic Laguna, Zion Beats, Silent Octopus, Party Cinema, and Goldfish Stage – where I’ll enjoy good company and eclectic music ranging from electronica, hip hop, alter rock, reggae, and open air dub.
Rich and interesting additional programming
Non-music content is also part of a festival and helps create and maintain atmosphere. My friends and I are especially looking forward to Sea Star’s two playground zones with various activities. I’m certain Star Lounge, Koktel Zone, Foodland, and Fastfoodland will draw in many visitors with their rich culinary offer.
Perfect festival location
Apart from great programming, what most drew me to this festival is its location, directly by the sea. It not only opens the summer festival season but is also located at the multifunctional Stella Maris Resort in Umag, almost directly on the beach, near the Goran Ivanišević Stadium where the popular Croatia Open Umag is played.
