Taste the late summer delicacies
Istrian cuisine is amazing any time of the year, or day for that matter. Still, summer’s end is a special time. Those last delicious morsels of seasonal fruit prepare your palate for the upcoming autumn delicacies, such as the white truffle. But did you know that, by the river Mirna, thrives the black truffle, equally prized – but eaten during the summer as well?

Explore enchanting caves
It’s hard to tear yourself away from the sun and sea in the middle of the summer, let alone at its start! But towards its end, we are certain there are many willing to skip a swim or two and dive into the underground of stones and rocks of strange beauty. The secrets of deep caves are as numerous as the caves themselves dotted all around Istria and the beautiful stalactites and stalagmites are as breathtaking as the most beautiful ones among Novigrad sunsets. Among them, the Mramornica cave near Brtonigla is especially beautiful.
Treat yourself to a look from on high
Maybe you’ve already explored Istria on a bicycle and by sea, but you’ve probably forgotten to see it from air! For those less inclined to experience the adrenaline rush of danger there are panoramic flights that will take your breath away with all the beauty of Istrian peninsula spreading out before you! For those whose breath is still present even in the face of most beautiful sights, there is tandem skydiving and paragliding – because it’s not all about relaxation and meditation, sometimes you need a real adrenaline bomb!
After tasting all those famous Istrian wines and having traveled down all the local wine roads, it’s time to witness how these magical drinks are made. It all starts with grapes and each town has its own special harvesting tradition. For example, Buje celebrates the harvest with a special festival. Join the locals in harvesting and Istrian wine will taste all the better for it.
